Fortney Covered Patio

A19 | Project Summary

A multi-zoned backyard entertainment area with a covered patio and outdoor kitchen. Our primary goal was to reimagine the outdoor space, seamlessly blending relaxation, dining, and cooking into a versatile and inviting environment. We aimed to craft a backyard oasis, extending the comforts of home to the outdoors, serving as a serene retreat and a focal point for social gatherings and outdoor entertaining that homeowners will cherish for years to come.

Common Questions

  • The key features and design elements incorporated into each zone of the multi-zoned backyard concept vary based on their intended purpose. For example, the dining area may feature a large dining table and comfortable seating, while the relaxation zone might include cozy outdoor furniture, a fire pit, and lush landscaping. The outdoor kitchen zone would typically consist of cooking appliances, countertops, storage, and possibly a bar area.

  • The layout and arrangement of the different zones are carefully planned to optimize functionality and flow for various activities and preferences. For instance, the dining area may be positioned closer to the indoor kitchen for easy access, while the relaxation zone may be situated in a more secluded area for privacy. Pathways and landscaping elements help delineate and connect the different zones, creating a cohesive overall design.

  • Several considerations were taken into account to ensure cohesion and continuity between the different zones while still allowing for distinct purposes and aesthetics. This includes consistency in materials, colors, and landscaping elements throughout the backyard, as well as thoughtful placement of transitions and focal points to create visual interest and flow. Additionally, the scale and proportion of each zone were carefully balanced to maintain harmony and balance in the overall design.
